In the third article within the series about the “miracle” and the “mind,” we’re going to bring kindness and unkindness in the discussion about specialness. In the Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is a member of humility and learning and unkindness is by using arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness this means they’ll eventually learn to forgive all specialness which is what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation pertains to everyone who is the One Son perceiving Himself as separate and other fragments. All unkindness stems from the anxiety in the mind if we repress our fear and guilt as an alternative to forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto other individuals who are very a part of us actually.
There’s two books by Kenneth Wapnick on, “The Healing Energy Kindness.” Volume 1 is on, “Releasing Judgment” and Volume 2 on, “Forgiving Our Limitations.” In my view, these needs to be required reading and continuing study for anyone who is a significant Course student. The following passage says all this:
When you set aside the brilliant metaphysics of A Course in Miracles as well as its sophisticated psychological insights, this course could be pared right down to a particular rule: Be kind. If you aren’t kind, then not merely are you not practicing the program, there is no way you may also start to be aware of it. It doesn’t matter how brilliant your knowledge of the company’s metaphysics could be, discover being kind toward someone else, you are not doing what this system is asking (The Healing Power of Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).
Despite this admonition, we insist upon being unkind:
This lack of ability to truly practice A training course in Miracles’ kind principles of forgiveness that they can study, and sometimes even teach, has perhaps been the most serious failing among its students. This book’s sequel, “Few Elect to Listen,” discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness beneath the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. Having less simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to all or any except this course student making the spiritual pronouncements (The material Of A Course in Miracles: Are all Called, p. 306).
The non-dualistic meaning of kindness can’t be understood here inside the experience with dualism providing that specialness is continuously chosen since the ego comes from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to realize this regarding the ego, and just what all that thought product is capable of doing, is something that hinders our progress with the Course. We must be ready to think about the ego with the Holy Spirit – the Teacher – and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing can be hidden and that’s away from the Course.
Kindness To other people Is Kindness To Self
As part of his books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also talks about the origin of a person’s unkind behavior is the identical fear (and repressed guilt) that is doing work in our own mind and that’s what unites us. We’ve got precisely the same right-mind as well as the same capability to choose between them. Determining to be kind doesn’t make us different or better; rather it implies we’re happy to practice the “kind principles” from the Course to ensure that we can easily learn how to understand everything it’s teaching. These students would prefer to be a happy learner using the only true teacher – the Holy Spirit – as opposed to a spiritually special teacher in the ego in any form. Forgiveness’ kindness is obscure initially, because salvation is not understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you may lay down the responsibility of denying truth. Here is the burden that’s terrible, and not reality (T-21-VI.7).
Self versus “self” -or- Identity versus “identity”
Within the Course, there is a difference between the “Self” which can be our true Identity as Christ along with the “self” identity using the ego. This is the key factor to know as the first accepts the part God gave us through being God-created; but the latter is self-created and completely dependent upon the ego and its purpose of vengeance and maintaining separation. Everyone already believes these are ego. We may not be here otherwise. To think about the possibly of that being correct plus need for correction restores aspire to mental performance since it items to the best way out.
Every time a spiritually special Course teacher (a type of unhealed healer) teaches specialness of the ego, these are being unkind towards others and therefore themselves but they are highly unlikely to look at it that way. Without anxiety your brain is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom can’t be learned by tyranny of any type (T-8.IV.7).
It is usually unkind to improve the program and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God and therefore everyone. When Kindness Calls

I’ll highlight some important passages beginning with an incredibly telling quote. First, however, permit me to add until this two-book set (including, “Few Elect to Listen”) should be required ongoing study for serious Course students:
“Love is frightening since it is all-encompassing and there there isn’t any room for specialness or individual uniqueness.”
He proceeds to point out that if were tempted to call awareness of our opinion is a few deficiency, or lack, we’re wanting to make such limitation real and into something divides the Sonship. When we are not kind, we aren’t Course students or teachers of God (this course as our path). When kindness calls, it must be chosen as kindness brings about miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is with the ego.
