The Miracle And Also The Mind: Kindness

Within the third article inside the series on the “miracle” as well as the “mind,” we will bring kindness and unkindness to the discussion about specialness. In A Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is owned by humility and learning and unkindness is by using arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness which suggests they are going to eventually learn to forgive all specialness which is what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation pertains to if you’re usually the one Son perceiving Himself as separate as well as fragments. All unkindness comes from the anxiety within the mind once we repress our fear and guilt as an alternative to forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto other people who are actually an integral part of us the truth is.

There are two books by Kenneth Wapnick on, “The Healing Power of Kindness.” Volume 1 is on, “Releasing Judgment” and Volume 2 on, “Forgiving Our Limitations.” In my view, these must be required reading and continuing study for everybody who is a life threatening Course student. The next passage says everything:

If you schedule the brilliant metaphysics of the Course in Miracles and its sophisticated psychological insights, this course might be pared as a result of one simple rule: Be kind. If you’re not kind, then not just are you not practicing this course, there is no way you may also start to understand it. It doesn’t matter how brilliant your knowledge of its metaphysics might be, discover being kind toward somebody else, you are not doing what this product is asking (The Healing Power of Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).

Despite this admonition, we insist upon being unkind:

This lack of ability to truly practice Training in Miracles’ kind principles of forgiveness that they can study, or even teach, has perhaps been essentially the most serious failing among its students. This book’s sequel, “Few Opt to Listen,” discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness underneath the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. Having less simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to all or any except the Course student making the spiritual pronouncements (The Message Of your Course in Miracles: Each one is Called, p. 306).

The non-dualistic meaning of kindness can’t be understood here from the experience with dualism providing that specialness is continuously chosen since the ego comes from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to identify this regarding the ego, and what everything that thought product is capable of doing, is one thing that hinders our progress with the Course. We should be prepared to think about the ego using the Holy Spirit – the real Teacher – and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing may be hidden which is straight from the Course.

Kindness To Others Is Kindness To Self

In his books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also covers the cause of a person’s unkind behavior is the same fear (and repressed guilt) which is doing work in our personal mind and that’s what unites us. We have the same right-mind as well as the same power to make a choice from them. Choosing to be kind won’t make us different or better; rather it indicates were prepared to practice the “kind principles” of the Course to ensure we can easily learn to understand everything it’s teaching. It’s merely a question of priority.

He goes on to point out that in learning the way to be kind towards others, we are practicing being kind toward ourselves because, “you along with your brother is one. They’re an element of you. About to catch different.” It goes directly to the center in the ego’s thought system wherein the thought of difference is the place where the ego began – God with his fantastic Son were separate and various – and undoes it. Even the slightest hint of specialness may be the ego. What he or she is saying becomes clear if you actually study and use the type forgiveness of the Course!

A serious student in the Course wants to know very well what this implies. These students would prefer to be described as a happy learner with all the only true teacher – the Holy Spirit – rather than spiritually special teacher with the ego in any form. These are thrilled to study on Him how you can be without any the burdens connected with denying the reality:

Forgiveness’ kindness is obscure in the beginning, because salvation is just not understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you will set down the duty of denying truth. This is actually the burden that is terrible, rather than the facts (T-21-VI.7).

Self versus “self” -or- Identity versus “identity”

Within the Course, there is a difference between the “Self” which can be our true Identity as Christ along with the “self” identity using the ego. It is a key point to understand as the first accepts the function God gave us through being God-created; though the latter is self-created and completely dependent on the ego and its function of vengeance and maintaining separation. Everyone already believes these are the ego. We wouldn’t be here otherwise. To think about the possibly of that being correct along with necessity of correction restores hope to your brain as it points to the best way out.

Whenever a spiritually special Course teacher (a sort of unhealed healer) teaches specialness in the ego, they are being unkind towards others and thus themselves although they are highly unlikely to view it this way. Also, they are improbable to consentrate it really is kind for a person to have boundaries together since their fear and guilt (and anxiety) are very great. However, honestly studying the world, we see that it must be filled up with the fragmented Sonship who’s anxiety-ridden from identifying with all the ego self. Unkindness is rampant on the globe along with the Course community. As Wapnick states though, we will not discover the Course until we decide to be kind.

Our behaviors are the demonstration of which mind we now have chosen (God or the ego). The ego is often a vengeful and tyrannical thought system of unkindnesses whereas freedom from this is tied directly to kindness:

Without anxiety mental performance is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom can not be learned by tyranny regardless of the sort (T-8.IV.7).

It is usually unkind to improve the program and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God thereby everyone. One small change effectually changes the entirety of the Course, an utter thought system. If you believe you understand that, you don’t. Once you know you do, you’ll automatically be kind to suit your needs understand the inherent value kindness plays in learning and knowing the Course. As Wapnick states, “It’s a matter of priority.”

When Kindness Calls

To sum up, let’s turn back the now to Mr. Wapnick and his awesome book, “The Message Of the Course In Miracles: Few Elect to Listen,” also to Chapters 4 and 6 on spiritual specialness. I’ll highlight some important passages beginning from a very telling quote. First, however, allow me to also include until this two-book set (including, “Few Elect to Listen”) ought to be required ongoing study for serious Course students:

“Love is frightening since it is all-encompassing and within it there is no room for specialness or individual uniqueness.”

He procedes to explain anytime we have been influenced to call care about our review is some deficiency, or lack, we have been planning to make such limitation real and into something divides the Sonship. The rock of salvation is no one can lose so another gains, i.e., there is nothing to consider from another, even if it’s just their success. However, we do not see why until a year the essential time dedicated to learning the words actually are correct as well as their true meaning. What your body seem doing informs us which internal teacher we now have chosen – the ego or the Holy Spirit. The ego is limitations, judgment, specialness and separation – the very the complete the Sonship jointly.

When we are not kind, we aren’t Course students or teachers of God (this course as our path). When kindness calls, it should be chosen as kindness brings about miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is in the ego.
