A great idea to adorn formal water ponds is often a container of some type, either empty or planted up. The irregular shaped water pond isn’t the area for statues, except just possibly a really strong-shaped abstract, more boulder-like than spiky. An appealing natural boulder or rock could look right, therefore could a log or piece of driftwood. Anyone fortunate enough to find a large fossil, just like an ammonite, could test it at the sea to determine if it looked happy, and the morbid might accept a cattle-skull within the Hostas.
Fountains do not belong here and besides, the Waterlilies do not much care for moving water, although when the pool is big enough you can have water gurgling gently in the pool from a stream, natural or man-made, while planting waterlilies within a calm patch in the other part.
