Going, a few years ago, reading a blog post by a prominent blogger and SEO expert about “mobile blogging”. He’d a “blogging box” which allowed him to blog wherever he was (that we thought was obviously a bit stupid and pretentious). It included searching for camera, a laptop which has a 3G modem, a notepad and pen, along with other bits and pieces. The whole lot nearly easily fit into a suitcase.
Thankfully, stuff has shifted a little bit, so we will have WordPress apps for iPhone/iPad and Android. Both apps are now compatible with more or less recent versions of WordPress. That said, make sure you check which type of WordPress you’ll need to be running to be able to access your dashboard via mobile.
Blogging vs Microblogging
Obviously, much of your limitation when working with a mobile phone for blogging would be the fact things are a bit really an irritation. You can’t type as quickly, upload as numerous pictures, format as well, or perform few advanced things. That can be done almost everything you’ll need, yet it’s a little more cumbersome.
That being said, the best way forward is clearly microblogging. By microblogging I can’t mean a twitter-esque update. I recently mean a bare-bones post, with a picture and several commentary that you looked at whilst you were away from your laptop and a wi-fi connection.
What this allows you to do, amongst other items, is live-blog events and things that happen. In case you spot something exciting, it is possible to please take a photo or possibly a video from it and hang it in your blog before you get back. Should you be in the commercial of breaking news, this could be invaluable.
