A great idea to adorn formal water ponds is a container of some kind, either empty or planted up. Fountains tend not to belong here and besides, the Waterlilies usually do not much take care of moving water, although if the pool is big enough you can have water gurgling gently in to the pool from the stream, natural or man-made, while planting waterlilies within a calm patch with the other side.
