How weddings have changed on the decades! From a handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding party members; a simple wedding car to expensive and large wedding cars; three course meals in order to six course meals; 1 to 3 live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about the latter, wedding speeches remain a fundamental part of a wedding and guests do anticipate hearing them, speaking about them before, during and indeed after they’ve been delivered.
We know of wedding speeches delivered prior to meal, in the meal and after your food, yet it’s of the strong opinion that the wedding speeches must be delivered after the meal. I understand that for several wedding party speakers i.e. Father with the Bride Speech, Father with the groom speech (5 main speakers), they will prefer to hold the wedding speeches before the meal, so they can enjoy their meal (a lot of them are spending money for it!). However, is going on the invited guests and the way many (as wll as the wedding ceremony venue staff) would prefer wedding ceremony speeches to become delivered following the meal for many reasons, many of which include:
The invited guests happen to be fed and watered and aren’t listening to wedding speeches before eating any breakfast (at least of food, which will be so before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival at the wedding venue)
Food can be cooked and served at the agreed time (introduce the marriage speeches ahead of the meal along with their can be quite a delay of A quarter-hour to 1.5 hours, driving the kitchen staff crazy always keeping food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The marriage speeches work as the transition in the meal for the dancing (broke and alone happening following the meal, people are expecting ‘a few words’ being shared in regards to the Bride & Groom after which it they are fully aware they could wake up, move around, take a rest, go for a walk, navigate to the bar…)
It can be difficult for parents from the Bride & Groom to speak in public areas, the majority of them couldn’t survive used of computer. So, they may, if they so wished, speak prior to / their meal.
There should always be some type of formal speech(es) after the meal…
