With the release of the new 2 wheel self balancing electric scooter, 2015 has become a thrilling year for gadget fans. Worldwide, individuals are taking to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to write pics and vids of themselves zipping around for this 2 wheel contraption which basically appears like a board using a wheel on both sides.

A mix of a skateboard as well as a segway, this mini Segway (devoid of the handle) type thing is blowing up in popularity, fuelled simply through the level of celebrities which have been seen on one. From Usher to Soulja Boy, Kendall Jenner to Jamie Foxx, all have tried their hand as of this nifty little gadget, and seem to have a lots of fun doing so.

Nicknamed the ‘swegway’ (because of it’s likeness to the Segway, but a ‘cooler’ version) we aren’t sure entirely where this type of 2 wheel scooter descends from or who invented the first. Probably it descends from some factory in China. The first glimpses we saw of it in the media were a product or service referred to as IO Hawk, a scooter that will cost you an impressive $1800. This is back January of 2015. Since then many cheaper versions of the same product came out there along with the average price currently appears to be around $500.

What makes it work? Basically you get up on the two panels and shift your body weight slightly forward or slightly back plus it senses this bodyweight change and moves backwards or forwards. Additionally, it may turn right of left. This 2 wheel scooter is turning out to be so popular it really is being touted as the personal mobility device for the future. Who wants to walk when you are able glide, right? Plus it’s really a lot faster than walking, travelling at speeds of 6mph to 10mph.
