Using a bunch of new materials and production methods invented inside the mid-20th century, a barrage of new frame styles quickly followed suit and massive round frames found they’d slipped from the stylistic radar. This wasn’t no more the queue for round frames though. Oh no! Whether it was a nod on the intellectual heroes that have worn them decades before, or the realization they may be picked up dirt-cheap pre-owned, the hippy movement with the 60s adopted the style since the unofficial frames of their peace loving movement. Now manifesting as sunglasses and opticals, big round glasses had doubly secured their place in pop culture history, previously being written to the stylistic history books in, it’s unlikely that any, but two cultural revolutions.
And it’s the truth that this classic style can continue to conjure up a photo of refined, studious authority that’s meant big round framed specs haven’t strayed past an acceptable limit through the frame style peripheral. It’s why they’ve been a choice of thinkers and visionaries alike. Most of all, though, it’s why the frame style is coming back in a big way almost a century after its first foray onto the frontlines of favor.
Big Rounded lenses are probably the few true oldies; An item of fashion history that may still pull weight today. As frames, they’re an all rounder. They search top-notch smaller than average wirey, or massive and chunky. They’re able to down an appearance which has a stamp of intellectualism, or they could invoke a sense of care-free psychedelia. Whilst they are not always suitable for rounder faces, they certainly a great job of suiting most face shape.
