1. A: Hawthorne effect. The name comes from studies of workers with a factory called Hawthorne Works in the early section of the last century. The study discovered that when workers know they’re being monitored in an experiment, the outcome in the experiment tend to be unique of those achieved by workers involved in much the same experiment who will be unaware they are being monitored. Sometimes the main difference is positive, and sometimes the main difference is negative, however when workers know they’re being observed in an experiment, the results in many cases are skewed, and this should be taken into consideration.
